Roof Washing

Roof Washing in the Marietta Area

Those black streaks and dark patches on your roof are usually algae feeding on the limestone filler in your shingles. Fire Dog Pressure Washing offers roof washing that removes that growth and restores a cleaner, more uniform appearance — using a method matched to your roof material so the surface isn't damaged in the process.

Roof Washing

What causes the black streaks

The dark streaks common on Georgia roofs are typically caused by an algae called Gloeocapsa magma. It feeds on the limestone in asphalt shingles and spreads across the roof over time, leaving the surface looking stained and older than it is.

Moss and lichen can also take hold in shaded, damp areas and should be addressed before they lift or damage the shingles.

A method matched to your roof

Roof surfaces and coatings handle water and pressure very differently. Aggressive high pressure can damage shingles, dislodge granules, and force water beneath the surface — so roof washing uses a lower-pressure approach paired with the right cleaning solution for the material.

Mike selects the approach based on your roof type and its condition.

Surfaces commonly cleaned

Asphalt shingles, metal roofing, tile roofs, and flat or low-slope roofs are the most common residential roof surfaces Mike is asked to clean.

Honest expectations

Roof washing removes algae, moss, and discoloration and noticeably brightens the surface, but it's not a guarantee that every stain or mark will disappear. Mike will be straightforward about what to expect for your roof before any work begins.
